If you aren't using email to reach out to your clients, you are missing out on a great way to bring added value to your clients. And, if you're trying to build a client base, giving prospects great information for free through a newsletter can be an excellent marketing tool.
I use Aweber to reach my SixFigureWriting members, as well as visitors to my other websites. It's just the most effective service out there. My newsletter subscribers receive deals and special information that I don't post to the blog, since I don't always have time to build a post for general consumption, and when people subscribe to receive email, I strongly believe it should be worth their while!
I recently posted to another forum asking whether writers were using email marketing. The responses were disappointeing to say the least. "Traditional" writers don't get it. It's not about spamming, or bugging your customers who are already clients. It's about using the platform to give them even more valuable information than just the services you render. For example, if you are writing press releases for clients, and they re regular clients, wouldn't they like to know that you just found a new online press release source, which you will be using to promote their releases? You are letting them know that you are on top of your game, and that they benefit. A lot more than just giving them good writing services.
It's called "overdelivering", which top businesses use, and which writers can use as well as any business to enhance your reputation and attract new, high quality business. Are you using email lists, and if so, what works for you?
